Green Building
Sustainable or ‘green building’ design and construction is the opportunity to use our resources more efficiently while creating healthier and more energy-efficient homes. Green Design involves finding the delicate balance between homebuilding and the sustainable environment.
WKP Construction Services, LLC supports energy-efficient building and construction materials to help provide a safer and healthier environment for the future. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has two ways of achieving a home built to green standards:
LEED for homes is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
REGREEN is a guide to green residential remodeling and has been developed through a partnership between the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Foundation and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Green remodeling is the design and construction of projects that reduce the environmental impacts of remodeling, including energy, water, and materials consumption; waste generation; and harmful emissions, both indoors and out.
